Adult
Species :
Hawksbill
Release Location:
جزيرة صير بو نعير, الشارقة, الإمارات
Gender:
Female
Background:
Early on the evening of the 2nd of May we came across Louloua, now sponsored by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, on Beach 7, right at the north of Sir Bu Nair island (Sharjah, UAE). She measured 72.5 cm in curved carapace length and she was tagged by Emirates Marine Environment Gorup rangers with a monel tag (1114) so that they would know her when she came back to lay eggs again. EMEG are project partners who have made it possible for our team to tag turtles out on Sir Bu Nair now for three years running, and this latest turtle is going to contribute to the growing body of data on turtle habitats in the Gulf. Not surprisingly (nearly every turtle has done this so far) when we released her from the EMEG site on the south of the island, she moved right back to the area up north where she was originally found.
