Background:
Another late night on the beach! We spotted Tamara at 10pm one night and didn’t get to release her until 08:30 the next morning. Seems like we spent the whole night awake and the day sleeping…. Under the sponsorship of Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa, Tamara was a bit smaller than the others we have worked with (‘only’ 77cm in curved carapace length and still among the world’s largest), and she did manage to lay eggs on the night. She was quite feisty in the beginning but settled down to be very quiet during the night, as the glue dried. She woke up while we were laying our fibreglass layers and started spreading sand with back flippers, so she now carries the transmitter and some sand to remind her of home!
